GD:ID
Participants in Gd:ID will learn diverse styles from Ragga to Western Contemporary, Bollywood to European folk. They will create their own contemporary ‘ID’ through weekly classes and creative sessions.
The course runs on Tuesdays 5.30pm to 7pm, starting March 2 and running until May 25, 2010. Sessions will be held in central Gloucester at City Works, Alfred Street.
GD:ROOTS
Paricipants in Gd:Roots, held at The Forest Theatre, Royal Forest of Dean College, will be introduced to a range of dance styles and approaches, and be encouraged to develop their own creativity and dance style.
Those who attend the weekend of dance on 18 & 19 February at The Royal Forest of Dean College (10am – 5.30pm each day) and the following two rehearsal sessions will enjoy performing at the Gd:Youth Festival on 4 March at The Forest Theatre.
Following the choreography and performance project, more dancers will have the opportunity to join ongoing Gd:Roots weekly classes on Tuesday evenings (5.30 – 7pm). The classes run until May 2010.
Gd:Roots is being run in association with new Forest of Dean dance organisation Wyedance.
Both courses are being led by expert professional dancers and teachers (Sarah Gardiner, Russel Boodie and Annet Richards-Binns) and supported by guest choreographers.
No formal dance training is necessary - all abilities are welcome.
These are two of a range of dance courses being run across the county between now and March 2011 being supported by Gloucestershire County Council.
