Children & Young People
BBC Children in Need Appeal have awarded funding for a three-year programme which will enable GD to work with an increased number of young people with special needs, disabilities and mental health issues.
From September 2011, GD will be offering the following subsidised services for schools, colleges and community organisations in Gloucestershire and surrounding areas (eg. Bristol, Wales, South Glos):
- GD inclusive teaching and lecturing residencies (from 1 week, to a whole academic year)
- Teacher training, mentoring and consultancy
Services to other areas of the UK:
- Consultancy and training in inclusive practice / developing a successful model through which to increase participation
- GD residences (3 days - 1 week)
For young people and families in the community, GD will organise fun Dance & Art days during half-terms and holidays (for disabled and non-disabled 8-18 year olds).
This funding will also support:
- 2 work placement opportunities for disabled dance leaders or arts administrators,
- continuation of Company INC, our youth company for disabled young people, and
- development of a partnership project working with young carers.
