Velcro Dance Company's work is rooted in Education.  Education Associate Ollie Ellis has extensive experience of dance-in-education and of integrated dance. 

The company have created a range of education packages and resources based on their latest commissioned piece Feast, a fun dance which explores the Olympic themes of Friendship, Equality and Respect around the dinner table!

FEAST - make your selection from an Olympic buffet!

Benefits of booking FEAST include:

  • a framework through which to explore Olympic themes, linking to 2012
  • supporting awareness of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • supporting the PSHE curriculum based on Every Child Matters outcomes: developing confidence and responsibility, making the most of abilities, developing good relationships, respecting differences between people
  • supporting the Healthy School Plus agenda: increasing physical activity, healthy weight, emotional health and wellbeing
  • reinforces Change4Life behaviour tips: up and about, 60 active minutes, sugar swaps

Education Packages:

Full FEAST (1 day): £500 (£250 to Glos schools)

  • 20 minute performance (min. space 8 x 8 and wooden floor required)
  • post-show talk / discussion
  • 2 workshops (can run simultaneously)

Side dishes: £150-200 (£75-£100 Glos schools)

  • 1.5 hour workshop
  • demonstration (short sample of live piece) + talk / discussion
  • 2 hour demonstration + workshop
  • teacher INSET and introduction to resource pack

3 course meal: £900 (£450 to Glos schools)

  • performance, talk + 5 x 1.5 hour workshops at cluster schools
  • 3 day residency (run over timescale / in locations to suit needs of school / cluster of schools)

General Education Information:

  • alternative packages / fees can be negotiated to suit your needs / budget
  • if booking the full performance (with 6 dancers), a minimum 8 x 8m space and wooden (preferably sprung) floor is required, as well as dressing rooms / space
  • ACCESS: Velcro includes 2 wheelchair users.  Spaces must be fully accessible and, for longer bookings, disabled facilities are required)
  • each workshop is for up to 30 students and usually lasts 1.5 hours
  • all workshops will be led by at least 2 members of the company
  • all packages can be tailored to primary, secondary or tertiary students
  • ALL WORK IS FULLY INCLUSIVE: please speak to us about any special needs
